King Centaur XXV – Larry Ryan

Larry was born in Marshalltown, Iowa. He attended Iowa State Teachers College and served in the Air Force for 3 years, 8 months, 12 days, 11 hours and 36 minutes.  He moved to Shreveport August 8, 1964 to work for KEEL Radio and married Suzy Ryan on August 10, 1964; the marriage lasted for 49 years and two days. As charter members of the Krewe of Centaur, their two children, Cory and Casey, were also original members of Centaur. Suzy was known as Snow Queen Centaur 13 in 2003 because it was the year it snowed. Larry has three grandchildren, Reagan, Brock, and Abigail. Honors include named as being on the top radio show in the USA for 2 consecutive years, and one of the top Program Directors those same two years.  Larry is the winner of several national advertising awards for producing and being the voice.  He served as Co Lt. of Old Float # 17, “The Original Monster”, for 20 years now the Kalberg float. Until this moment, Larry claims the most important position with the Krewe has been singing the birthday song at each meeting.  He loves playing golf and has been shooting his age at least once for the last 6 years.  Larry just celebrated his 77th Birthday August 1st.  His one regret is moving to Chicago for several years to do a morning radio show. He did get back to Shreveport-Bossier as quick as he could because he loves it.
